The creation
Our story begins when our father, about 30 years ago, planted her first vines in the place where he was born and lived.
We remember his care and love for the vineyard since we also participated in the pruning and the harvest.
It is said that Stratis made good wine! But he made it in our house, without equipment and with empirical know-how!
Over the years after our studies in different subjects in Heraklion and Athens, we wanted to use the product that accompanied our childhood memories and return to nature. This was the idea that brought about the big change.
We thought of turning to the primary sector… to what we have! Then what did we have? Only two tractors and a few small vineyards!
Thus, the memories shaped the emotions! They created the thoughts and gave power to create something new.
A visitable winery, a winery made from scratch, the Kourkoulou winery!

Planting 2 new vineyards with the white grape varieties Vilana and Moschato of Spina.

Vinification of two more wine labels, Vidiano and Liatiko.

First export to the Netherlands.

Stratis
Multi-tasker and handyman. Retired teacher who met his first love: cultivation. Deep in his heart, he wanted to become an agricultural scientist. He found ground to express himself and to be close to nature. Self-taught in the art of organic viticulture, he takes care of all the vineyards of the winery.

CLOSE TO PEOPLE
Xenia
You will definitely meet her at the winery to welcome you. She is excited that this product has two sides. The hard work for its production and the relaxed atmosphere when people enjoy it. That’s why, she is a worker in the production area, but also chats with the guests.

BEHIND THE FACILITIES
Paul
The one who read any legislation to join and implement Leader programme. The one who made the plans of the building as an engineer, and, of course, the one who express himself better when he gets involved in the facilities in the production area. As an electrician, mechanic…

Nikos
Creative and communicative. He is studying marketing and communication in Athens and in the summer you will find him at the winery. It deals with the guided tours and the digital “image” of the winery. His artistic nature betrayed him and he undertook the creation of photographic content on social networks.

Chrysoula
First of all, the inspirer of the idea and the creation of the winery. The person behind the flavours served during the wine tasting, but also behind the simplest and at the same time the most useful work that needs to be done so as the winery can operate properly.

Zacharenia
Assistant in a pediatricianís for 14 years. In her leisure time, however, she engages in work that may not look, but is important: the details in the workplace so as to be neat and clean, the documents sent to the accountant, the polished glasses… Who said the owners give only commands?
